Apple have made there announcement during the 2019 WWDC that iOS 13 is alive and coming to an iPhone & iPad near you… Release date is set as we know for September this year so, not long now as developer & public beta’s are already being tested around the world on various devices however, not all iPhone or iPads will be supported.
The new operating system will bring some much needed changes across both platforms, the iPad being given a re-vamp in terms of functionality and flexibility which a majority of users will no doubt enjoy and more features for the iPhone especially the long awaited “Dark Mode” feature and FaceTime improvements which include the use of the “ARKit” for facial recognition during calls which brings about a more engaging experience for all users on both devices.

The new iOS software will have better performance and stability than ever before, an increased speed of 30% when using Face ID, better and more stable download speeds for Apps by up to 50% and updates will be at least 60% faster and App launching will become twice as fast compared to previous versions of iOS, apple mail, safari and notes will have major improvements from day to day general use.
Siri will also have a few tweaks by being able to read your in coming messages through your AirPods when they arrive, this function does not need raise to wake or a keyword in order to function and this will also work with 3rd party applications as they can access “SiriKit”. Music sharing has also been improved whereby you can share audio with a friend at the same time, Siri will also be able to “Hand-Off” music when you arrive to specified destinations for example like home etc.. Siri Shortcuts is now built in to the Os and so you will now longer need to download the application separately, it will use machine learning to create automations of the most common series of tasks.

Photos
The Portrait camera mode has a new lighting effect called “High-Key-Mono” and new editing features that let you change the intensity of light which helps improve facial features in photos. You can now also use features in video as well as photos, adding filters and even rotating video. There is also a smart AI which helps to organise your photos in the redesigned Photo Library which removes duplicate images and focuses on the best shots taken, these are then organised by day, month, year and displayed in a new album view.

AirPods improves functionality features…
New features for Apple’s Air Pods in iOS 13… Siri can read messages for you as soon as they arrived and can reply instantly, this will work with messaging apps that support SiriKit. Sharing audio is another great feature to look forward to in iOS 13 especially when using AirPods with another person, this includes video’s just by simply tapping phones together.
Multi user HomePod
HomePod can now recognise multiple voices and tailor responses to different users, including messages, music, reminders, notes and much more.. HomePod now gets the ability to play live radio stations streamed over from the internet from all around the world…

Additional Privacy features
Apple’s introducing an all-new privacy-focused feature called “Sign in with Apple.” It’s just like the “Sign in with Google” or “Sign in with Facebook” buttons you see in so many apps, that make it easy for you to sign up without making new accounts.
Sign in with Apple differs from those in that it doesn’t share gobs of personal information and tracking data back to Google or Facebook. Apple doesn’t take or track any data at all. And it minimizes your exposure to the app, service, or website you’re signing in to. Apple won’t provide your name unless you first give it permission (as some services require a name). And if a service requires an email address, you have the option of providing the one associated with your Apple ID, or you can provide a unique, randomized email address that Apple will generate for you on the spot, which will forward mail to your real email. So the app, site, or service never actually gets your real email address, and you can delete the random temporary addresses whenever you want to cut off access.
Apple’s also cracking down on abuses of location services. A new option will let you give an app location access just once—the app will prompt you again next time you run it, as if it was the first time. Apple will notify you when an app uses background tracking, and it will prevent apps from using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth data to approximate your location without actually asking for it.

All-new Reminders app
Many apps are getting tweaked in iOS 13, but the Reminders app is completely revamped. A quick toolbar lets you add reminders using natural language, and Siri will parse the times, dates, and locations within what you type to create the right reminder for you.
When you discuss something in Messages, Siri might suggest a reminder with a notification pop-up. Smart lists will group your reminders based on your schedule, so you can see the reminders you need when you need them.

Apple Maps has been rebuilt from the ground up, with considerable alterations, including the addition of roads, beaches, buildings, and other areas, as well as heightened detail. There is a new Favorites feature on the main screen, plus a Collections menu to organize Favorites and plan trips. Look Around is a Google Streetview-style feature that allows you to see a location ahead of visits. Labels allow you to find out more about specific locations shown in Look Around. Apple stressed that it’s a private and secure service. The new Apple Maps will have the entire U.S. covered by the end of 2019, with other countries to follow.

Dark Mode
Dark Mode will come to iOS 13, adding a cool, eye-friendly black background across the operating system. Apple will make Dark Mode accessible to developers, so it can be integrated into third-party apps. Plus, it can be activated at specific times of the day.

Swipe typing
Apple will add swipe typing to iOS 13, which was demonstrated during the introduction of its new Dark Mode.
Health App
All the functions available in the new Watch OS health app will be available on the iPhone. Watch OS has added activity trends and menstrual cycle tracking to the Apple Watch. The main app has also been redesigned with a new Summary view to show notifications, plus a Highlights section that shows fitness and health data over time. Machine learning is used to display those which are most relevant to you. It’s stored on the phone, or encrypted securely in iCloud, and you can opt to choose whether to share any information at all with other parties.

With iOS 13, Apple is cutting off support for devices with 1GB of RAM or less. That means that, compared to iOS 11 and iOS 12, they’re dropping support for the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus. iPadOS 13 drops support for the iPad mini, mini 2, and mini 3, and the original iPad Air.
